Our work began with essential roof repairs and the replacement of rotten floors. On the ground floor, we installed new steel beams along with beam and block flooring finished with a screed, and we overhauled the entire mechanical and electrical system. The project features a number of bespoke elements. We crafted custom doors and cladding from reclaimed scaffold boards, adding character to the refurbishment. Reflecting the client's passion for aviation, a tail fin from a RAF fighter jet was integrated into the design—a feature that even required us to remove and later reinstall the front door to accommodate the installation. Inside, our joiners built kitchen units on site from OSB board, while the reception area boasts a unique coffee table fashioned from an aircraft engine fan, complete with added legs and a glass top. A piano found on site was repurposed into a bookshelf, with the cast iron frame from inside the piano serving as distinctive wall art. Additional ceiling treatments were applied using stretch plastic ceilings and timber battens in another room, and the original chimney breast was retained while the adjacent walls were replaced with glass panels. In the basement, the space was transformed into a gym area and plant room through tanking, screeding, and wall lining. Meanwhile, the upper floors have been secured, although they have not yet been converted into apartments. This project combined technical expertise with creative solutions to breathe new life into a historic building, while incorporating unique design touches that truly set it apart.
